Chloe Dolores Canadian Musician

Chloe DoloresUpon moving to Toronto at age 18, Chloë began frequenting open mics with her grandfather’s old telecaster and a collection of lighthearted pop songs that she had written in high school.

Before long she had formed a four piece band called Dreamboat and was playing shows at little bars on the west side of Toronto. Over time she gained confidence as a band leader, and her songwriting style morphed as she experimented with different genres.

Life experience goes a long way in the development of any artist. In Chloë’s case, nothing has influenced her work more than her recent backpacking trip through Asia. She returned to home soil teeming with inspiration and an unbridled sense of freedom to explore the limits of her creativity.

Since then she has performed her new material extensively as a solo artist, and began learning to use LogicPro software to record demos of her songs. She has challenged herself with new projects such as playing keyboards and singing backup vocals in a band, Pete Casey and the Vikkies; doing songwriting sessions, and scoring the soundtrack to a short film; Scattered.

Growing up with musician parents meant that venues like the Dakota Tavern and the Cameron House have always felt like home turf, but making debuts on these stages with her own projects has been extremely rewarding. Chloë will begin recording an EP in the coming months and looks forward to forming a band in the near future.

Shelsey Jarvis, Country Singer/Songwriter

Shelsey JarvisAfter experimenting with many different styles of music, Shelsey Jarvis has finally found that country really resonated. After being involved in projects ranging from metal to hip hop to folk, she was hired to sing and write a country song and re-discovered the genre.

Having grown up in New Brunswick on the east coast of Canada, Shelsey is no stranger to country. She grew up listening to Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson. After moving to places like Philadelphia, New York and Montreal, she started discovering other types of music. Nothing seemed to quite click. Recently in 2010, she fell in love with the singer/songwriter focus that country has, and plans to move to Nashville with her husband Max, who is also a musician.

The wheels are in motion, the demo is being recorded at le Plan A studio, and the live set is being prepared. Stay tuned.

Helping others is in Lorna Owens’ DNA. “I grew up in a family where you did for others” says Owens. It is no wonder Owens became a Registered Nurse and Midwife. Several years into her practice Owens became concerned about the rate at which women were going to jail so Owens on her own time and with her own money started working in the jails with the women in a program she called Women Behind Bars. Here she taught the women they could become somebody no matter what their circumstances.

Two years ago she was watching CNN and saw Anderson Cooper’s piece called ‘Rape as a Weapon of War.’ It told the story of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and showed how over 2 million women were the victims of gang rapes and as a result had developed fistulas causing them to leak urine and feces. She cried and cried but true to form she decided to do something about it. She formed a Non Profit called Footprints Foundation. “The idea is that we will be saving women’s lives one little footprint at a time”.
